Mercury Donates Vehicles to Raise Funds For Pediatric Cancer Research
Lemonade! WOHOO! Get a cup of ice cold lemonade for $0.25! Turning lemons into lemonade is what Mercury has done since 2012, as they support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. This lemonade stand is a little different, however, as Mercury Insurance donates the proceeds of auctioned vehicles to help raise money for pediatric cancer research. Mercury has donated a vehicle each year, and to date has raised more than $50,000 for childhood cancer research.
“Mercury exists to help people put their lives back together – to extend a hand when people need it most. Partnering with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, an organization that does the same for the families impacted by childhood cancer, is a natural fit,” said Randy Petro, vice president and chief claims officer at Mercury Insurance. “We’re proud to back an organization dedicated to fighting a disease that affects so many lives.”
Mercury Insurance Creates Employee Wellbeing Program
Mercury supports a healthy environment for its employees, which inspired My Health at Mercury – a work and personal life balance.
Employees who participate in My Health at Mercury can earn points towards incentives for taking steps to improve their wellbeing, which includes weight loss, quitting smoking and more. Challenges are updated throughout the year and have included activities like Mercury Millionaire (walk a million steps in a certain period of time) and Mercury Moves 2016 (as a team, achieve a level of activity that is equivalent to 2,016 miles).
Employees have been huge supporters of Mercury’s wellbeing program, helping Mercury secure a 2016 Limeade Limelight Award for Engagement Leaps.
